R.J. Grand's health issues brought her to homelessness. After being fired from her gainful salon job on day five of cancer surgery bedrest, and working deadend jobs, she felt forced to take a rideshare driver job that she feared.

Not having grown up with effective listening skills and wanting to learn how to better communicate, R.J. found herself frustrated watching her rating drop. Over time, the job she despised not only helped her reach her goals, and  bring her rating to 4.95 stars, but her riders kept asking if she was writing a book about the crazy things people did in her car, because her profile states she takes writing classes.

Prior to that, R.J. wrote her first two books of The Fortier Series, about a wealthy dysfunctional family from Ridgefield, Connecticut and then won a writing contest at Westport Library in 2016 and selected a  Fairfield County Writers' Studio class for her prize. It would be the first of many.

Months later, she received a letter about a writing scholarship at Write Yourself Free with Patrick McCord, who she'd been referred to for book edits by Peter Pastorelli, a director in the film industry. Unable to afford manuscript edits, she was given ongoing classes under scholarships until Patrick's classes went private. She's applied for and has received continuous writing scholarships from Westport Writers' Workshops and is preparing to solicit literary agents for representation with pages from her book JUST ADD LIQUOR.

R.J. Grand attended Sacred Heart University, lives in southwestern, Connecticut, and has three  children. She is currently writing JUST ADD LIQUOR, Rideshare Experiences Good, Bad and Dangerous.
